Kaiser Electric has begun construction on Phase 2 of the University of Missouri’s (MU) East Campus Chilled Water Plant project in Columbia, MO. The second phase includes expansion of the new $15 million chiller plant, which was completed in May 2013.
Under the $22 million Phase 2 project, Kaiser Electric crews will install new medium voltage feeders and three 2,500 amp utility services to feed the new plant; provide electrical distribution and feeders to the new chillers and cooling towers and associated mechanical equipment; and install new lighting, small power and a fire alarm for the new plant. A new building is being constructed adjacent to the new chiller plant to house the Phase 2 project.
MU’s new East Campus Chilled Water Plant houses four, 1,500-ton electric centrifugal chillers. The Phase 2 expansion is required to supply chilled water to the University Hospital and clinics. Construction is expected to be completed in Spring 2015.
